Traineeship Location: South Africa
The South African Army, through its Military Skills Development System (MSDS), is offering young south African citizens an opportunity to serve in uniform on a two (2)-years contract.
The Military Skills Development System for two (2)- years voluntary service system with the long-term goal of rejuvenating and enhancing the SA National Defence Force deployment capability.
Successful MSDS candidates will be appointed in a specific mustering and will be called up for a training unit, where members will complete their basic Military Training in the first year and be utilized o deployed internally or externally in the second year of the MSDS.
General Requirements:
- A citizen of South Africa
- You must have not a criminal record
- You must be ideally single
- You must be of sound mind and health and ready for military training
- You must be between the ages of 18 years and 26 years
- You must currently be writing Grade 12 or must have completed it
- Be a South African citizen (No dual citizenship)
- Graduate up to the age of 26 if in possession of tertiary qualification (360 credits)
- Admission point score (APS) of 17 excluding Life Orientation (LO)
- Not area bound
- Have no criminal record or pending cases

Weight
- Male: 52kg
- Female: 48kg
Additional advantage
- Successfully completed Grade 12 with average of 50% or level 4 in mathematics and science

How Do I Join SANDF?
Joining the South African National Defence Force is not on a platter of gold but if an applicant can get in, there are several other career options to choose from and not just the military. Once an applicant is done with the submission of the forms and they are lucky to be chosen for the MSDS program, they go through phases of training.
In the first year of service, for example, recruits will undergo several medical evaluations which are needed to ascertain that qualify for basic military and functional training. Following that, they will go through specific combat-ready and corp-specific training as well
